This new design is better than the previous design. The old design had a separate cap and when you put the cap back on, it was easy to not eye-ball it correctly, edge the cap into the bristles and fray them. I'm thinking this must have been the reason for the redesign. With this new design, it's all one piece and impossible for the bristles to fray or for the cap to fall off. You just slide the top section and it retracts in a downward motion. When I say bristles, this is not meant to imply that it is rough. Actually, quite the opposite; the brush is very soft. I have one at home in my makeup bag, one, at work with my lipstick at my desk, and one with a tube of lipstick in my purse. I would recommend this product to anyone.I love this brush. I used to get it from Walmart. But now a days they no longer carry and price is bit more than amazon. As mentioned in other reviews I see brush streaks while applying my foundation. Not only with this brush..... but also with the other brands of I have with me. I thought the streaks may be due to the way I apply foundation I my face. But once foundation settles on my face I do not see any streaks. Overall a very good product. I recommend trying it once. If you don’t like it...you cans let’s try other brands...;)I recently had problems with other retractable lip brushes that uses a button to pop out the brush. Everyone of them the button would break. THIS slides and I have been very happy with it.The first one I got would not retract at all. Amazon offered a free replacement, and even though I was skeptical it would work I agreed. To my surprise it was delivered the same day AND it works.I do agree with other reviews concerning the lack of a cover; fortunately I have a lip pencil cover I can use to keep debris off the brush.Years ago I had a brush like this and I loved it. I looked everywhere for one and this on Amazon was the only one I found. Revlon makes a very good product. One of the things I like about it best besides smoothing your lipstick is that it's just a matter of pulling on one end to pull the brush in. You don't have to worry about losing a top for the brush. It is invaluable to get the last remnants of a tube of lipstick.I use this brush mostly to put on bronzer. I like the way it loosely holds the powder so it gets distributed evenly. I like the way the brush feels on my face. What I don't like are the stray black hairs that get left behind. On my face. Black hairs. Not the look I am going after. I check very carefully for strays after I use this brush, but on several occasions I have stopped in a restroom at a party and caught a glimpse of a big black hair that looks like it is growing right out of my face in the mirror. Seems like it is getting worse, maybe because the hairs are loosened up after so many have been lost. I will replace this brush.Super soft bristles, blends like a dream!It picks up product well and applies evenly. Bristles not too soft or hard.This is the best lip brush I have ever used. And it's incredibly light and sturdy to carry in my bag all the time. I have had my last one for over 5 years and I'm replacing it now, although it's not broken yet, nor has it shed its bristles, it just looks a bit scruffy on the edges.I'm attaching photos of it after 5 years in my purse every day.Absolutely worth every penny!I read lots of reviews of lots of telescopic lipstick brushes befor I bought this one. Time will tell how good it is, but on first inspection - yes the tube moves up to cover the brush for travelling. However, the aperture may prove to be a bit large (3mm dia) - my previous brush had a very small aperature. The brush itself is soft. I would have preferred a tapered brush, but this one may do the job just fine.Really happy with this lip brush. The bristles aren't too soft or too hard, can be used to outline the shape of the lips, there isn't a lid to lose (the brush is retractable) and it is very compact.The brush is fine but on the picture it looked like it had a cover, however it's just a pushup which is definitely what I didn't want. I've had to buy another brush with cover so disappointedThis is a lovely little brush, so easy to use and it makes a great job of applying lipstick.
